Bosch and Siemens Home Appliances Group (BSH) expands in India's home appliances market

Bosch and Siemens Home Appliances Group (BSH), Europe's leading home appliances manufacturer, on 28th February 2013 (Thursday) announced its growth and expansion plans for the Indian market on the occasion of the foundation stone laying of their first manufacturing plant in India at Sipcot Industrial Park in Pillaipakkam, Chennai. According to the Press Release from the Company, The facility will commence operations by the 2nd half of 2014 and serve India and act as an export hub for the South East Asian region as well as Australia and New Zealand. It will produce washing machines out of this facility, with plans to expand into other home appliance products. The state-of-the-art manufacturing facility will be spread across 42 acres of land with a total investment of around Rs 350 crores. The facility will have a mid-term production capacity of close to 600,000 units and will create 400 new direct employment opportunities in the city, the release said. The company is operating in India through its brands Bosch and Siemens for premium home appliances. Bosch Home Appliances was launched in September 2011. Siemens Home Appliances have been present in India for over a decade. The land in Chennai has ample scope for expansion of the manufacturing facility. Beyond manufacturing, BSH will also open a Research and Development center located at the factory site in Chennai to develop future generations of Products for the Indian and South East Asian region, the press release added..
