Eleven Engines on BNSF Freight Train Meeting Coal Train

On the afternoon of June 3, 2018, an eastbound BNSF coal train comes through the railroad crossing in Batavia, Iowa. As the front of the train goes by, the headlights of a westbound train appear in the distance. This turns out to be the mixed freight train H-GALDMO. It's a high-priority train (H) from Galesburg, Illinois (GAL) on its way to Des Moines, Iowa (DMO). An astounding eleven locomotives are on the front of this DMO. The leader is a Gevo. It's followed by seven SD70MACs. After the MACs are three switch engines. The first two switchers are owned by the CIT Group. Last in line is a Union Pacific genset.
