Hello and welcome to Monday December 7th…. Well, if you’re anything like me, you’ll be finding this quite an intense end to what has been a remarkable year. Many of us are wanting to draw a line under 2020, and move into 2021 with a fresh sense of optimism. And something the media will be looking for now, are the lessons we have learnt from this year. How has the pandemic changed our lives for the better? Certainly the work from home experiment has been one the biggest changes, but COVID-19 has impacted every aspect of life. Our children’s schooling, the way we shop, the way we socialise, travel, our government and leadership – everything has changed. So, if you have been reflecting on the year and have an opinion on some of the lessons learnt, send it through to [email protected] Already it seems like we’ll be facing another summer of bushfires and as I speak, a massive bushfire on Queensland’s Fraser Island is threating townships and residents. Keep an eye on the environment and our bushfire season. Climate change has taken a back seat this year, but it remains one of our most pressing issues. If you have an opinion on climate change, climate action, or our bushfire season, send your thoughts through to [email protected] This Thursday is International Human Rights Day and December 10 is the day that the United Nations adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which proclaims the absolute rights which everyone is entitled to as a human being - regardless of race, colour, religion, sex, language or political opinion. We know some groups of people in Australia and worldwide are being persecuted still, so if you have an angle on Human Rights, send your story to [email protected] Finally, don’t forget your Christmas and New Year content, we’re putting together Christmas Media Boards now and the first will go out later this week. If you have something to offer from your area of expertise, get busy now and send it through to the media engagement team, at [email protected] And have a great week in media…
