Featuring the exquisite voices of Canberra’s Luminescence Chamber Singers conducted by Roland Peelman AM, the music is an affectionate reflection on mortality in a unity of text, music, voice and place that explores the timeless human condition of loss, regret, hope and reassurance. If I could have given you a note At the blue hour of your time … It would be the Northern Star To your ship and the lighthouse too “Sally’s piece is an act of kindness,” says Sarah Rice, who also commissioned the music. “The first thing one notices is its lyrical line – its simplicity, intricacy, delicacy and sense of purpose. There is an intimacy in the piece that is the size and weight of a human life.” The ambience and acoustic of All Saints Church provides the perfect setting for the recording of If I Could (Have Given You A Note) and its accompanying music video, directed by Marisa Martin, which celebrates its unique heritage, beauty of light and atmosphere.
