2015 Jeep Renegade Review and Test Drive!

This is our review of Jeep's brand new model, introduced this year: their compact, but ever so true #Jeep #Renegade! We'll show you the outside, the inside, and driving of the car. This year, Jeep introduced a brand new model, the #compact Renegade. The first thing that catches the eye is that despite its smaller size, this is a 100% Jeep, with no concessions made! The amount of details borrowed from the Willys heritage that emphasize the Jeep blood in this car is stunning. Jeep has done everything to make sure the Renegade has a rough, off-road appearance and it has more homage design hints than any other Jeep in their current line-up. What to think of this beautifully designed compass, and the mud splash as a redline marker! Another historic detail that has been used throughout the Renegade design is the cross that stems from the jerrycan carried on the back of the original 1941 Willys Jeeps. Furthermore it carries the famous U-shaped wheel wells, 7 slot grille and round headlamps that could all be found on the very first Jeeps. Driving the Jeep Renegade feels impressive. You are seated high above the road and therefore it feels like driving a real Jeep, too! Because of the boxy design, you see the hood in front of you, which gives an even stronger king-of-the-road feel! And did you spot the small Jeep grille behind the rear view mirror? The driving characteristics feel well done and well balanced, with smooth shifting and supple acceleration throughout with the 2 liter diesel engine. It is definitely a different driving experience from your average sedan or hatchback, and even many SUVs. An experience well worth checking out on a test drive! Renegade’s Jeep DNA doesn’t stop at the outside! The interior is well-designed, with muscular edgy shapes and again, many unique details like the handlebar on the dashboard and the cross. Those legendary elements are shared with today’s technology like two crisp LCD displays, one of which offers Jeep’s touch-based Uconnect infotainment system. The interior looks and feels refined, crafted from pleasant materials and with a lot of small chrome details. The seats, with a Jeep grille icon if you opt for the leather finish, are thick and supportive, as we are used to with American cars. The Renegade is not all American by the way, since it’s being produced in Melfi, Italy. Our test drives were with the 1.4 liter Multiair petrol engine and the 1.6L Multijet diesel engine. The 1.6 liter diesel option is surprisingly smooth and powerful, with no noticeable turbo lag. Finally, the Renegade comes with an optional Trailhawk trim, too, which makes it a true trail rated, off-road legend! So, if you want a real 4 by 4 vehicle but don’t want to pay for the gas, the Jeep Renegade is your perfect option of driving something capable and unique!
