The Seasam HullScan Underwater Drone (ROV) was designed to make ship hull inspections easier, more accurate and faster. It has a Hull Lock Positioning system (called a DVL) fitted to the front which will hold the drone a set distance from the ship's hull. This means the drone pilot only needs to drive the drone in vertical and lateral movements without the need to manually control the distance from the ship. DVL positioning system Although HullScan was designed for ship hull inspections it also operates as a standard drone for other inspection work for pylons, moorings etc. The DVL system can be quickly relocated to the underneath side of the drone and is the used to hold the drone in position in strong currents. Similar to how satellites hold an aerial drone still in windy conditions. Also, when installed in this position the DVL will provide the distance the drone is to the river, lake or ocean bed. Adjustable Thrusters - from 30 to 60 degrees. The adjustable thruster means the pilot can customize the drone when working in stronger currents.
