What does it mean to thrive in a world where we are living longer than ever before? In this dynamic global conversation hosted by the University of Chicago Graham School in partnership with the University of Chicago Hong Kong Campus, Dean Seth Green introduces the Principles of Generativity for a long-life world. Drawing on demographic transformation, scientific advancement, and the lived experiences of accomplished leaders navigating major transitions, this conversation explores how longevity is reshaping adulthood itself. No longer confined to a linear arc of education, work, and retirement, life is becoming multi-stage—demanding renewed curiosity, courage, and clarity of purpose. Through insights from LSI Fellow Bob Oros and Executive Director Diana Petty, we examine how leaders can move beyond external measures of success toward deeply personal, purpose-driven next chapters. Key Questions This Video Explores: How is the “longevity revolution” reshaping the structure of adulthood? What does it mean to live generatively in a multi-stage life? How can accomplished leaders transition beyond their primary careers with clarity and courage? What role do learning, relationships, and community play in sustaining purpose? How do we overcome the fear and instability that often accompany major life transitions?
