Removed railroad siding restoration - Fall River, MA - South Coast Rail

As part of the South Coast Rail commuter rail project a section of double track railroad line will be restored. Historically the double track into Fall River, MA started at Somerset Junction and ran south to the large yard at Ferry St. but was removed in the 1960's. Now in 2022 a section of that track will be rebuilt as a passing siding at Somerset Junction. This section will likely be at most a half mile long, maybe shorter but will give more operationally flexibility to the passenger and freight trains that will use this line starting in late 2023.
