As the work approaches its triumphant conclusion in the Cum Sancto Spiritu, Vivaldi borrows note-for-note from Giovanni Ruggieri, another maestro di cappella in Venice. Vivaldi manages to put his own spin on Ruggieri’s choral writing through an original orchestration that adds to another layer of angelic brilliance to the finale of Gloria.
