Most knives people carry for convenience sake are something I would never recommend to somebody in a survival situation. Why do you need a strong knife for lighting a wet wood fire? Because we’re going to be putting our knifes through a bit of pressure to draw out that dry material. You’re also going to learn the best material to burn due to its easy ability to ignite, even it’s soaking wet out and you’ve been stuck in your survival situation for weeks. You’ll learn the simple secret to chopping wood WITHOUT an axe. It’s a simple method that’s extremely safe, so you never risk gashing yourself open. You don’t need to hear how horrible that can be in a SHTF moment, when you’ve got limited access to first-aid. Even if you’re a survival medic… A gigantic gash from a knife isn’t going to help your situation. And it’s just a good bushcrafting skill to add to your arsenal. You’ll also learn a how to split wood so it burns faster, and exposes the dryest material to throw into your fire pit. Plus, how you can get bone-dry kindling to get your fire started quickly and easily. And again, the proper way to remove the kindling with a little known carving technique. You’re also going to learn why matches shouldn’t be your main source of fire ignition for starting your fire. The secret to getting a fire started in any situation. Most people I see are definitely doing this wrong. What dark smoke indicates, and why too much of it is not a good thing. You’ll also learn WHEN you can start burning your wet material, and how to give it an almost insta-dry before throwing it on your fire. In the end, there’s a lot of variables to consider when starting a wet-wood fire. But when it comes down to it… we’re looking for the driest material possible. And learning how to use that material to build up a fire slowly. It can’t be stressed how important it is to learn how to build a fire in any condition. Every year, the bodies of hikers, campers and survivalists are brought in. Their cause of death on the morgue tag says, exposure. Exposure death is the morgues term for Hypothermia death. Hypothermia death occurs from sudden drop in your core temperature. That drop kills you, within 30 minutes, even in 65 degree weather. Even the most advanced survivalists die from Hypothermia, simply because they can’t build a fire in damp conditions. According to the CDC roughly 1,500 of those morgue tags show up each year from very preventable hypothermia. It should be obvious, share this with your friends and family. Stay safe and stay prepared.
