Exodus 19:4–6; 20:1–21; 34:4–10 In Week 7 of A Walk Through HIS-story, we come to Mount Sinai where God makes a covenant with His people and reveals His holy character. In this Exodus sermon, we see that while Israel is unable to keep the covenant, God proves Himself to be the covenant-making and covenant-keeping God who redeems His people even in their unfaithfulness. At Sinai (Exodus 19), God declares Israel to be His treasured possession, a kingdom of priests, and a holy nation. In Exodus 20, He gives the Ten Commandments, revealing His righteousness and the standard of covenant relationship. Yet by Exodus 34, after Israel’s failure with the golden calf, God renews His covenant and reveals His gracious and compassionate nature. This message highlights: • The purpose of the covenant at Mount Sinai • The meaning and significance of the Ten Commandments • God’s holiness and His mercy • Israel’s failure and God’s faithfulness • How the covenant ultimately points to Christ Exodus 19–20 and 34 remind us that while God’s people fail, God remains faithful. He is not only the covenant-making God but the covenant-keeping God — redeeming and restoring His people according to His steadfast love.
