S.M.C.D.S. President Dr. John Acosta speaks with Dr. Ardavan Fateh about his lecture on April 19, 2018 at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Foster City, California. The topic of the lecture is Gingival Recession: Etiology, Diagnosis, and New Treatment Modalities. PRESENTATION Gingival recession and importance of having sufficient attached / keratinized gingiva have been researched extensively for decades. New surgical techniques and different grafting materials have been developed to treat areas with gingival recession; however, indications for treatment have been long debated. Dr. Fateh’s enlightening presentation addresses ♦ Accurate diagnosis of gingival recession ♦ Etiology and prevalence of gingival recession ♦ What’s more critical: gingival tissue thickness OR width of attached/keratinized tissue? ♦ Treatment indications ♦ Different treatment modalities e.g. Pinhole surgical technique SPEAKER BIO ARDAVAN FATEH DDS, MMSC, CAGS –received his dental degree from University of California, San Francisco and his Periodontics certificate from Harvard School of Dental Medicine. He has published many articles on hard and soft tissue regeneration and has presented his clinical work and research nationally and internationally. Dr. Fateh is a board certified Periodontist, clinical instructor at UCSF, and visiting lecturer at Harvard School of Dental Medicine. He maintains a private practice in San Francisco and Alameda.
