And now for the second video of some luscious loud London Leylands from a Borehamwood bus event, this time we have a throwback to the 1970s with Daimler Fleetline DM1052. GHV52N was new in 1975 as one of a contingent of the 2646 DMS-strong class of Fleetlines new to London Transport from 1970 to 1978. The DM prefix signifying the vehicle ran with a conductor instead of being an OPO DMS. DM1052 was new to Brixton garage for use on route 109 from 1975 to 1978 before a spell at West Ham as a driver trainer, before working from 1979 to 1980 at Holloway and withdrawn by LT in 1982. DM1052 was snapped up intially by East London independant T & K in 1984, then by D Coaches of Swansea where it ran from 1985 to 1997. In 1999, DM1052 was then accquired for preservation in 1999, and is often a frequenter of events held at the Epping Ongar Railway. DM1052 was operating as part of the Amersham & District's Elstree & Borehamwood running day recreating central route 107. The current route is from Edgware to New Barnet via Canons Corner, Elstree, Borehamwood, Stirling Corner, Arkley & Barnet. The route ran with DMS's from 1972 to 1978, though sadly not this specific one. The route also previously ran to Enfield, Ponders End & Queensbury. DM1052 is powered by an 11 litre Leyland O.680 engine coupled to a 4-speed Daimatic Semi-Automatic gearbox, which produces its distinctive whiny melody in high gear. Fantasticly tuneful, hope you enjoy! Start: Elstree Studios Finish: Barnet, Union Street
