He may not have done things the best way, but his intentions aren't selfish, and it was painful to see him get battered from every side - by Raphael, by Crowley, by his minions, by his own conscience, and most importantly, by his friends... in particular Dean. I was disappointed with Dean's righteous stand, because he's the biggest proponent of doing 'whatever it takes' for the greater good, so I felt he should've tried harder to understand Cas and stand by him, rather than make an ego issue of being lied to and lecturing him instead.
