Truck Racing Crash Brands Hatch Elton Boocock

The opening rounds of the BTRA championship saw Elton Boocock in the barrier, not once, but twice. Struggling to keep up with the increased power of the M11s, Elton had to push himself and the silver Seddon Atkinson to the edge to remain in anyway competitive. Seeing his position on the grid going down from 2nd to 4th, Elton pushed it a little too hard in the wet conditions at Brands hatch. Leaving the track at the end of the start straight at 100mph put an end to his chances of getting higher on the grid and he had to settle finally for 5th. Race one had little impact and Elton who finished the last race of 2008 way out in front of his class B rivals, failed to make an impact and came home again in 5th place. A quick start on the second race saw Elton in the action as some close racing with Andy Lovenberry pushed through the door glass and added to the crowds excitement. Beating off the attack, boocock gained a position and managed to keep a very competitive Horne at bay until eventually suffering from brake fade, Boocock went over the back of Horne and once again into the barrier. This was not the start to the season that the team were hoping for. This said, Elton has always proved himself when the odds are stacked against him and with only 2 rounds down, the championship is still wide open. Pembrey for the next rounds, is a completely different circuit and one that Elton is very at home with. Truck racing is back and just as with 2008, watch this space closely!
