In this highlight from Making the Grade: Exploring Color's Role in TV and Film, Colorist Jill Bogdanowicz talks about how Director Todd Phillips wanted her to create the look of a 1970's/80's motion picture for the film "Joker." Jill Bogdanowicz joined Company 3 in 2014, and since then has brought her unique talents to features including "Thor: Love and Thunder," "John Wick: Chapters 3 and 4," and "Joker." Episodic work includes "Ahsoka," "The Fall of the House of Usher," "Black Adam," and "The Umbrella Academy." She won the HPA (Hollywood Professional Association) Awards for Outstanding Color Grading for her remarkable work on the blockbuster feature film Joker and in the Commercial category for Toyota’s “Jessica Long Story: Upstream.” Previously, Bogdanowicz spent two years at Modern VideoFilm, where she colored an impressive list of films, including the lush, beautiful "The Grand Budapest Hotel" for director Wes Anderson and cinematographer Robert Yeoman, ASC, and before that, eight years at Technicolor on a large slate of productions. Bogdanowicz majored in Art and minored in Physics at the State University of New York, Geneseo. She is also an avid painter of large-format (five- and six-foot-tall) oils and watercolors, which she has exhibited at several high-profile galleries.
