Embrace the Heart of Downtown Missoula

Downtown Missoula is the Heart of Missoula, Montana and at its center is Caras Park, the river, and surrounding parks and trails. The Clark Fork River and the system of parks are an integral part of Downtown Missoula’s identity. People celebrate the river as a place to play, learn, contemplate life, and build community. The North Riverside Parks and Trails Plan was adopted in 2020 and will help make tomorrow’s riverfront even more vibrant, accessible, sustainable, and green. Phase I of the plan was completed in the summer of 2022 and fundraising has begun for the next phase, which includes better access to the river near Brennan's Wave and a place for art and play underneath the Beartracks Bridge. The mission of the MDF is to support and promote Missoula through enhancement of Downtown through vibrancy of arts and culture, livability, economy and safety: Commerce, Heritage, Culture, & Living. Since 2010, the Missoula Downtown Foundation has raised and invested more than $1.8 million into Downtown Missoula. That total includes investments in Caras Park, the Light Our Bridges project, the Wayfinding Pedestrian Directional Signs, Downtown flower baskets and boulevard banners, the Small Business Support Fund, the Heritage Missoula Legacy Trail kiosks and medallions, and infrastructure upgrades for the Downtown holiday décor. These Downtown Missoula projects connect the Missoula community and enhance the quality of life for both residents and visitors.
