Why You Should Upgrade Your Amarok Sound! - SOUND OFF - Ep.5: Volkswagen Amarok

In this episode of SOUND OFF, we show you exactly what Volkswagen fit into your Amarok, and why you should upgrade to aftermarket components! Want to win a Playstation 5 and Audison Amp? Make sure you enter our huge 10k giveaway!    • Видео   In SOUND OFF, we show you exactly what manufacturers fit as a factory sound system, be in the standard system or optional upgrades, and compare those components against aftermarket upgrades. As part of the comparison, we weigh the components, as generally speaking weight gives a good indication of quality, but we also take you through the parts that build each component and the benefits offered in the aftermarket parts, primarily focussing on magnets, cone and speaker construction. In the Amarok, Volkswagen didn't offer a sound upgrade. This may be because it is classed as one of their "commercial" vehicles, but unfortunately this means regardless of your use for the car, you are stuck with the base sound system. The base system consists of a 2 way front end using tweeters in the A-Pillars and woofers in the front doors, and "co-axial" speakers fitted in the rear. We say "co-axial's" - these VW co-axials actually just use a secondary paper cone fitted to the primary cone to mimic the behaviour of a tweeter to emit higher frequencies. Unsurprisingly, the performance of this design is very limited. This Amarok has been brought into us to change all that and it is recieving a comprehensive sound upgrade, which is being documented in a Behind The Sound series, which you can watch here:    • Top Spec Truck Deserves Top Spec Sound! | ...   To upgrade the sound, we are utilising the Hertz Mille Legend tweeters, using a custom 3D-printed housing to replicate the factory fittings, and Hertz Mille Legend woofers which fit in a stock location in the front doors. The rear co-axials are being upgraded to true co-axials, using the Hertz Cento Pro range to offer a much clearer, better sound in the rear doors. The system is also using an Eton 10" Active Subwoofer and an Audison Forza 8.9Bit amplifier to run the system and boost the bass, but these are not being compared in SOUND OFF, as the factory system lacked a sub and amp, powering the whole system from the head unit. Hertz Cento Pro Co-Axials: https://www.fourcaraudio.co.uk/brands... One of the biggest benefits of the Hertz Mille Legend range is their use of a Neodymium magnet. Neodymium is a manufactured, rare-earth magnet, which contains much higher magnetic force in a smaller form factor than Ferrite, which is the magnet used on factory components due to its much cheaper price. By using a Neodymium magnet in the tweeters, a much better performance is offered in a very small form factor, whereas in the Hertz Mille Legend woofer, a much larger Neodymium magnet is used. This means the woofer offers a huge amount more power than the factory speaker, especially when amplified. For all the details, make sure you stay tuned to the very end of the video!
