The Dutch Grand Prix returned on the F1 calendar four years ago and I attended all of those races. This year, my friend Leon and I had general admission tickets for the Sunday. Leon and I started to watch F1 races mid 90’s and our first race together was the Luxemburg Grand Prix of 1997. This year, we made sure to arrive early on Sunday to have good seats with our general admission tickets. After three sunny and dry editions and one rain edition, this year there was some rain on Sunday morning and some drops of rain during the start of the race. But never enough to get out the raincoats or ponchos. Fortunately Max Verstappen gave us some relief by taking third in quali and second in the race. The race started very hopeful for us Dutchies, however Norris made a clean pass early on and just ran away, so the fight would be between the McLarens. They looked very evenly poised, but also it didn’t look like a real fight was going to happen. There were a lot of incidents to keep us engaged in the race, mostly concerning Ferrari drivers, so that was nog too great for the Tifosi. Towards the end, Norris suddenly grinded to a halt, just where we were sitting. We saw the despair when he sat down. Never a nice moment for any driver, but even worse when you are fighting your teammate for the Drivers Championship. Hadjars first podium was a bit of a consolation, all in all a very entertaining race.
