Gethsemane : There is Peace in Christ

Thursday: The Upper Room and the Garden. On this sacred night, Jesus gathered with His Apostles to observe the Passover. In the upper room, He instituted the ordinance of the sacrament—inviting His disciples then, and us now, to remember Him through bread and water, His body and His blood. He spoke words of love, taught of the Holy Ghost, and prepared them for what was to come. They had walked with Him for years, but He knew their true discipleship was only just beginning. After the meal, He led them out into the night—to Gethsemane. There, in that quiet garden, the weight of the world pressed down. Though He asked His closest friends to stay awake and watch, they slept—unaware of the eternal work unfolding just feet away. Jesus knelt and prayed, and the agony of all sin, sorrow, grief, and pain began to descend. And still—He stayed. He suffered willingly. For us. The pain He bore is beyond comprehension. But His love is greater still. Greater than our weakness, our wounds, our wandering. As the disciples slept, Christ made a way for them—and for us—to find true rest for our souls.
