In this short video, Dr Sameera Irfan explains that the OVERUSE of DIGITAL SCREENS can harm our eyes and our bodies by emitting Radio-Frequency waves as well as BLUE LIGHT. 1: The RF waves are ionising radiations that are absorbed by the body part that is closest to the mobile phone or laptop. They damage the DNA of body cells and can cause cancers in the long run. -Turn OFF the phone or turn to Airplane mode while going to sleep. -Don't keep the phone in your pockets as RF waves travel through clothes to your body. 2: RF signals are the strongest when the phone or laptop is being connected to a power source to be charged. NEVER USE THE PHONE WHEN IT IS BEING CHARGED. If you want to answer a call, take the phone out of charger, answer it, and then connect it back to the charger. 3: Digital screens emit BLUE LIGHT, the combined affect of Blue light & RF waves damages the ocular surface, causes cataracts, and retinal damage. 4: Blue light blocks the secretion of a hormonal substance secreted in our body called Melatonin. Lack of Melatonin disturbs our body-clocks, interferes with sleep, growth of children, and makes them agitated, restless individuals. It interferes with their memory, learning. Affect of Blue light is minimised by AVOIDING READING OR WATCHING SCREEN in the DARK BUT IN PROPER ROOM LIGHT. 5: Bending the head and neck while watching digital screen placed in the lap or hand causes eye strain, back ache, neck pain and increases number of glasses, squinting of eyes. All this can be avoided by watching digital screens while sitting straight on chair and table, back properly supported, with the screen at eye level, and in good room light. Screen time should be 30 - 40 minutes at a time with a 10 minutes break. KEEP YOUR CHILDREN SAFE PROTECT YOUR EYES & BODIES FROM THE HARMFUL AFFECTS OF DIGITAL SCREENS !!!! Best Wishes, DR. Sameera Irfan
