Spotify - https://open.spotify.com/track/5OSuMs... This song is a meditation on Parashat Beshalach and the moment after redemption, when freedom arrives before faith does. The gates are opened, miracles unfold, yet gratitude fades quickly and expectation replaces awe. When hunger and fear return, blame follows, and in that space, Amalek appears, not only as an enemy from the past, but as the evil that enters when faith weakens. Moshe’s altar, Hashem Nissi, “Hashem is my miracle” is not built in celebration, but as a warning. (Verse 1) The gates were opened No sword behind us No blood on our doorposts We walked out joyous But not in awe Alive Not awakened Egypt fell We did not (Short Refrain) Freedom came easy Faith did not (Verse 2) We crossed on dry ground With borrowed courage Sang borrowed songs But when the road stayed open And the sky stayed silent We asked for more Water now Bread, we’re hungry Carry us like before As if chains were comfort As if slavery fed us (Pre-Chorus) And when hunger spoke We answered with blame (Chorus) You brought us out to kill us We said it with our mouths You brought us out to kill us We said it without fear Is Hashem with us Or want to kill us (Verse 3) That question opened a door From behind Where faith had thinned Where strength uncommon Not a nation A condition Amalek (Bridge) Remember Write it Raise it Remember Write it Do not forget Not what they did What we allowed (Verse 4) Evil does not die once It waits It wears new names It walks inside us Destroyed in one place Reborn in another As long as faith is optional (Bridge) Hashem Nissi Hashem Nissi Write it down Raise the stone Hashem Nissi From age to age The war remains The choice is ours (Outro) So Moshe built an altar Not to celebrate But to warn Hashem is my miracle From generation to generation And the war remains Until faith is earned #chasidus #parashathashavua #jewishthought #torahportion #beshalach
