In order to guarantee its correct operation we have to adjust the input level first. Put the knob on 1 and listen how the sound is changed, if the signal is too compressed select PAD. If on the contrary when you put the knob on 4 or 5 you do not feel any change in the sound you have to select BOOST. If the sound is slightly compressed in 1 and quite compressed without being destroyed in 5 then use UNITY. In this case we need to use PAD. Lower values of the knob increase the detail without cutting the #transients, larger values compress the signal and create pumping effects that as we have seen can be very useful (Watch "Why pumping (audio) compression is not always bad?":    • Why pumping (audio) compression is no...  ). Note that the output is auto compensated, also see that even highest values produce a fairly smooth #compression, in this case it would be possible to increase the pumping even more by moving the input signal to UNITY or BOOST. LOUDER is more like MV2. Lower values apply low level compression (Watch "Waves MV2, Expansion, Upward & Low Level Compression Explained":    • Waves MV2, Expansion, Upward & Low Le...  ) which increases the volume of the quieter sounds of the track increasing the overall volume and reducing the dynamic without compressing the transients.
