The Other Great Ocean Road Australia. Just as scenic with lots to see and do. Title: "The Other Great Ocean Road: Stanwell Tops to Thirroul | NSW South Coast Scenic Drive" Welcome to "The Other Great Ocean Road" — a breathtaking coastal drive from Stanwell Tops to Thirroul along the stunning New South Wales South Coast. While Victoria’s Great Ocean Road often steals the spotlight, this hidden gem just south of Sydney deserves its moment in the sun. In this video, we take you on a scenic journey along the Grand Pacific Drive, showcasing dramatic sea cliffs, the iconic Sea Cliff Bridge, lush escarpments, charming seaside villages, and endless views of the Pacific Ocean. Our journey begins at Bald Hill Lookout in Stanwell Tops, a world-famous hang-gliding launch site with panoramic views over the coastline. On a clear day, you can see the road winding its way along the cliffs, hugging the shoreline like a ribbon. The vista here is simply unforgettable — waves crashing far below, whales migrating offshore in the right season, and that expansive blue horizon that goes on forever. From here, we descend along the Lawrence Hargrave Drive, a stretch of road that’s equal parts thrilling and tranquil. As you wind your way down, you’ll pass through the village of Coalcliff, framed by steep cliff faces on one side and open ocean on the other. But the true highlight comes quickly: the Sea Cliff Bridge. This engineering marvel curves out over the ocean for nearly half a kilometre, offering drivers and pedestrians a rare opportunity to float between sea and sky. We slow down here to soak in the sights, and we even stop to walk along the pedestrian path, capturing drone shots that reveal the full scale and beauty of this architectural icon. Continuing south, the road gently undulates through the coastal hamlets of Clifton and Scarborough, where seaside cottages, rock pools, and hidden beaches whisper of slow living and saltwater days. Lush greenery clings to the escarpment, creating a stark contrast with the deep blues of the sea. Next, we cruise through Austinmer, a beachside suburb known for its ocean baths and relaxed vibe, before finally arriving in Thirroul. This vibrant town is the perfect place to end the journey. With its surf beach, lively cafes, and backdrop of towering cliffs, Thirroul blends natural beauty with a creative, small-town spirit. It’s easy to see why so many Sydneysiders escape here for the weekend. Whether you're planning a day trip, a photography adventure, or just a peaceful coastal escape, this drive is one of the most underrated in Australia. In just under 30 minutes of drive time, you’ll experience some of the most scenic coastal views in the country — no long road trip required. So buckle up, hit play, and join us as we explore what might just be Australia’s “Other Great Ocean Road”. 👉 Don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more scenic drives, Australian travel content, and hidden gems along the coast. 🎵 Music licensed via Youtube - Jay Sweeps geographer.mp3 📷 Gear used: GoPro Hero8 Black, Drone : DJI Mini3 pro, Camera 2 : Iphone12 📅 Filmed in: May 2025 #GreatOceanRoad #NSWCoast #SeaCliffBridge #StanwellTops #Thirroul #GrandPacificDrive #AustraliaRoadTrip #ScenicDrive #SouthCoastNSW #HiddenAustralia.
