Footage of SBS Schemed 2018 New Flyer XN60 1072 operating on the Bx36 LIMITED from Castle Hill to Washington Heights, via Tremont Avenue. These XN60 buses are not designated for Bx36 service, as they are supposed to be used on the Bx6 SBS route (Hunts Point Market to Washington Heights via 161st Street). Some SBS schemed XN60s make their way on the Bx36 during rush hour periods, usually about one or two. As part of Bronx bus redesign (which takes effect on June 26th, 2022) significant changes were made to this route. The old Bx36 route between Tremont Avenue/Webster Avenue & White Plains Road/Cross Bronx Expressway (CBE) was replaced by other routes. This includes former portions of the Bx36 route on Webster Avenue, East 180th Street, Boston Road, East 174th Street, and the CBE. The extended Bx11 now covers the East 174th Street/CBE segment between Parkchester and Hoe/Vyse Avenues, while the modified Bx40/Bx42 will cover the East 180th Street segment. The Bx36 now operates on Tremont Avenue from Webster Avenue until White Plains Road, then taking White Plains Road down to the CBE. Route segments west of Webster Avenue and south of Parkchester were not changed.
