Motorcycle Adventure: From Belgium to Serbia and Back 🏍️🌍 (part 3)

This day, we rode all the way north along the Croatian coast and climbed from sea level straight into the mountains of Biokovo Nature Park. The total ride to the top is about 48 km, starting literally at sea level and finishing at the summit of Sveti Jure at 1,762 meters. That means you gain the full elevation in one continuous ascent, which makes it far more impressive than the number alone suggests. On the way up, we passed the famous Biokovo Skywalk, a glass viewing platform suspended high above the Adriatic Sea. Standing there with the coastline stretching endlessly below is already an incredible experience, but it’s only a stop along the road to something even bigger. The real highlight of the day was reaching the summit of Sveti Jure, the highest peak of the Biokovo mountain range and the second-highest peak in Croatia. From the top, you get one of the most spectacular viewpoints in the entire country. On clear days, you can see the Adriatic islands and even the coastline of Italy in the distance. The ride itself was both breathtaking and nerve-racking. Extremely narrow roads, steep drops, blind corners, and lots of cars and buses made it intense from start to finish. At the same time, the landscapes were unreal. Sadly, we also saw large areas of forest damaged by wildfires, a powerful reminder of how fragile this beautiful region is. After taking in the views (and letting the adrenaline settle 😅), we continued our journey into Bosnia and Herzegovina. There, we swapped our motorcycle gear for tourist outfits and explored the city, enjoying delicious local food and soaking up the culture and atmosphere.
