My stay in the Westfall is coming to an end. At sunset, when the last rays of the sun have left the roofs of the houses, I say goodbye to my friends. There is warmth and a slight sadness in their looks, good luck wishes and promises to meet again in their words. We exchange firm handshakes, and I sling my travel backpack on my back, feeling the heaviness of parting mixed with the excitement of the road. My goal is the Lakeshire in Redridge mountains. But first you have to overcome the Duskwood — an ancient, dense forest, whose crowns close over the path, like the arches of a gloomy cathedral. They say that the shadows of bygone times still live in its thicket: either the spirits of nature, or the echoes of past battles. A nighttime downpour hit me, turning the path into a slippery stream, and the forest into a realm of water jets and muffled sounds. Cold water runs down my hood, soaking my cloak, but I keep going. The wind howls through the trees, the rain beats a drum roll on the leaves, and I walk, step by step, through this element. In my mind is the image of a cozy tavern in the Lakeshire. A warm fire in the hearth, the smell of roasting meat and fresh bread, a mug of good ale in his hands. A wooden floor under tired feet, a soft bed, silence broken only by the crackle of firewood. I imagine closing the door of the room behind me, taking off my wet raincoat and saying, "I got there." Hopefully, in a couple of hours all this will become a reality. In the meantime, go ahead, through the rain and darkness, through the forest and doubts. The road leads me on. *** World of Warcraft content and materials (images, in-game footage, music, soundtracks, OST) are trademarks and copyrights of Blizzard or its licensors. All rights reserved.
