Dishes Few Dare to Try 🇻🇳 HORSE MEAT & Northern Vietnam Delicacies

I found even more horse meat at this night market in Sapa! 👉    • Wild Vietnam BBQ Street Market!! 🇻🇳 F...   My food adventure in the Northern Vietnam region continues in the town of Sapa - there are a few more local vietnamese dishes that I need to try before I move on, and today I ticked off the list 2 northern specialities: horse meat stew (Thắng cố), and back chicken in pumpkin stew (Gà ác hầm bí đỏ), both of which you'll find in today's food vlog. For the horse meat I chose a speciality restaurant: at Thang co A Quynh Restaurant in Sapa they focus on horse delicacies; not only I tried a bowl of their famous horse organs stew, but also some incredibly delicious horse meat cubes, grilled in the hot stone. The stew was kinda chewy (but I never complain about that) and surely with a bold and umami-rich flavour. This was definitely the more interesting dish of the day, although the grilled horse is more likely to meet the palate of an initiated food explorer. The Black chicken in Pumpkin stew at Nhà hàng Ô Quý Hồ was another highlight of the day. The black chicken, which is a local breed in the Cao Lai region, is a savoury and firm meat, which gets stewed inside a pumpkin; the pumpkin stew is more of a vegetable stew, in which you'll find potatoes, carrots, roots and other veggies...delicious!
