Westmorland

This is a tune from the Playford Dancing Master Collection of 1686. Westmorland was a county in the north of England which was absorbed into Cumbria in 1974. The tune is another internet collaboration between me and Ginny Aitchison of Celtic Mandolins. I am based in Argyll in Scotland and Ginny lives in Ontario, Canada. Ginny played mandolin and I then added octave mandolin, guitar and synthesised piano and cello. As Westmorland is partly in the English Lake District I chose similar scenery from my home area - call it poetic licence. The first few shots are from the Chilean Forest section of Benmore Royal Botanic Gardens just outside Dunoon and feature a shelter based on the design of some country churches in Chile; The lake is Loch Eck, just north of the gardens.
