Morocco floods have forced the evacuation of over 154,000 people as the Oued El Makhazine Dam exceeds 141% of its capacity in the worst flooding in over 30 years. Morocco's dam and flood crisis in Ksar El Kebir, Larache, and the Loukkos River basin is still unfolding as Storm Marta approaches and officials warn the next 48 hours are critical. Seven years of drought followed by record-breaking rainfall have pushed Morocco's hydraulic infrastructure to its absolute limit. The Oued El Makhazine Dam has discharged more than 372 million m³ of water, with releases running at 560 m³/s — all of it flowing directly through Ksar El Kebir, a city of 120,000 now 85% evacuated and described as a "ghost town." Thirteen neighbourhoods remain underwater. Schools, roads, rail, and maritime traffic with Spain have been disrupted. Crops including avocados, potatoes, and olives have been damaged. Despite the scale, zero deaths have been confirmed — a testament to Morocco's massive military-led evacuation operation.
