Mahabaleshwar Mahabaleshwar is a small town and a municipal council in Satara district, Maharashtra, India. It is a place of pilgrimage for Hindus because Krishna river has its origin here.[1] The British colonial rulers developed the town as a hill station, and served as the summer capital of Bombay Presidency during the British Raj. VEENA LAKE Venna Lake is one of the tourist attractions of Mahabaleshwar in Maharashtra state in India. The lake was constructed by Shri Appasaheb Maharaj, who was Raja (King) of Satara in 1842. The lake is surrounded by trees. Tourists can enjoy a boat ride over the lake or a horse ride next to the lake. A number of small eateries line the banks of the lake. The Mahabaleshwar city market and the S.T. bus stand is about 2 km (1.2 mi) from the lake. These plateaus, alternatively known as "table land", are a part of the Deccan Plateau and were raised by pressure between the earth plates.
