Cubital tunnel syndrome results from compression and traction of the ulnar nerve about the elbow. The ulnar nerve is very important for hand function – it supplies many of the small muscles that control fine movement of the fingers. This nerve descends down the arm, wraps around the inside of the elbow and continues down inside of the forearm all the way into the hand. Typical symptoms of Cubital Tunnel Syndrome are pins and needles that radiate along the arm down into the little and ring finger. It is commonly caused by holding the elbow in a flexed or bent position for a long time.
