1966 Alaskan Truck Camper 10' Non Cab Over Truck Camper Designed by R.D. Hall It Raises.. . It Lowers SOLD! Video depicts inside/outside of what a 10 foot vintage Alaskan camper looks like. Great Restoration Project even for a beginner! Here's an easy restoration project for those who like to tinker, enjoy camping and the great outdoors. Alaskan campers look great in a restored old pick-up truck or docked in a salvaged pickup bed where you can unhitch at your location. Replace floor, reupholster cushions, replace with modern appliances or keep Dometic fridge and replace stove with stove - oven combo, LED lights , rewire, paint, add solar panel to roof, have modern amenities but, keep vintage to the Alaskan style camper.. There's nothing like an Alaskan camper. They're build for comfort and they're made for all terrain. They look great on a classic pick-up. You'll definitely will get plenty of lookers. Kitchenette turns into bed, missing table, plenty of cabinet space and head room for walking, cutting board under stove, sink, plenty of windows, ceiling vent, etc. Great restoration project or make into a modern truck camper. Either way.. it will still be an Alaskan. Alaskan campers are fun, nostalgic, 100% American and perfect for anyone who likes to camp. Where ever your truck goes.. it goes. Originally named Alcan, after the infamous stretch of road connecting Alaska to the continental United States of America, the story behind the first telescoping camper is a fascinating one. The Alaskan Camper was – and is – a simple yet dramatic breakaway from the bulky profile of the average pickup truck camper RV for sale. Since the original Alaskan Campers, designed in 1953 for the purpose of camping along the Alcan Highway, campers have searched for a camper that would give them protection from the rain and cold. A camper that would travel rough terrain, be lightweight and present the least wind resistance on the road. Personally I would replace floor with new treated wood and put in heated flooring, replace lights with LED, keep Dometic refrigerator, replace carpenter nails in cabinets with new screws, add a cabinet above the kitchen sink and stove, modern upholstery and rapes but, keep the walls original. Some people have added bunks above the kitchenette but, making the bed is easy. In the 80's we made trailers from chopped pick-up beds off of salvaged pick-ups. That way you can drop your rig whenever or use the back of your pickup for more gear. Alaskans campers are great if you're a true outdoors man. This Alaskan has been every where from the Sonora Desert to the Sierra Nevada's, from Washington to San Diego. It's never been East of the Rocky Mountains.
