Dr. Weiner is showing how he treats mild rolling acne scars. His first step is to perform subcision using a 23g softfil cannula. The video demonstrates the tethering of the scars to the subcutaneous tissue and superficial fat layer, which is divided using the cannula. A small amount of diluted Lidocaine is placed in this layer to improve comfort with the Genius which follows the subcision. RF has a predilection to travel along collagen bands, so Dr. Weiner feels it is important to subcise these diving scar bands to prevent RF from traveling deeper than the intended area. The Genius is a totally reengineered RF microneedling device, which has impedance feedback. This allows for better/more precise delivery of energy into the dermis. The needles and motor upgrades overcome the resistance of the tissues, so needle depth is more accurate. There is also an energy output display so energy per pulse and total energy is available to the operator. All these improvements lead to more comfort and a better overall outcome. After all laser and RF procedures, patients undergo a Healite treatment. This is a LLLT (Low Level Laser Light Treatment) that improves healing time, decreases risk of complications, and improves outcomes.
