Welcome to our YouTube channel power of knowledge. In this video you will learn about the procedure of balloon sinuplasty with the help of 3d animations. "Balloon sinuplasty is a medical procedure where hollow spaces in your skull are opened using a balloon. This helps drain mucus trapped in your sinuses. Sinuses are hollow spaces around your nose in the skull. For example, the maxillary sinus is below the eyes in the cheek region. The frontal sinus is above your eyes in the forehead, the ethmoid sinus is in the center behind your eyes, and the sphenoid sinus is behind your cheekbone. These sinuses connect to your nasal passage, and their lining has cells that produce mucus. This mucus traps dust particles and microorganisms when we breathe through our nose, and it either goes down our throat or forms nasal boogers. Sometimes, due to infection, the lining cells of a sinus become inflamed. Inflammation causes the surface inside the sinus to swell, blocking the sinus opening and trapping mucus inside, leading to sinusitis. Normally, sinusitis resolves quickly, but in some cases, the opening remains closed for a long time, called chronic sinusitis. In chronic sinusitis, the patient feels a heavy head, experiences swelling around the eyes, has a blocked nose, reduced smell, and a constant feeling of nasal congestion. To treat this condition, medications are initially given, but if they don't work, doctors may recommend surgery to cut the bone around the sinus opening to allow trapped mucus to drain. However, this surgery is painful, has a risk of bleeding, and can leave scars. Therefore, balloon sinuplasty is a better option for treating chronic sinusitis. Now, let's see how the balloon sinuplasty procedure is performed. In balloon sinuplasty, an endoscope examines the closed sinus using your nasal passage. Then, a tube with a balloon at its tip is inserted into your nose. The tube is guided to the closed sinus. The balloon is placed in the sinus opening and inflated, opening the sinus. After inflation, the balloon is deflated and removed, allowing trapped mucus to drain. This procedure is safe and useful, and you can go back home on the same day. That's all for today; we'll see you in our next video. Until then, thank you for Watching.
