These layers include the tunica vaginalis, a serous membrane derived from the peritoneum, which consists of parietal and visceral layers. The tunica albuginea, a dense fibrous capsule, lies beneath the tunica vaginalis and encases the testis, providing structural integrity. Arterial Supply: The testis receives its blood supply primarily from the testicular arteries, branches of the abdominal aorta. The testicular artery accompanies the spermatic cord into the scrotum, where it divides into multiple branches to vascularize the testis and epididymis. Additionally, the artery anastomoses with the artery of the ductus deferens, ensuring adequate perfusion to the reproductive structures. Venous Drainage: Venous drainage from the testis occurs via the testicular veins, which form a network known as the pampiniform plexus. The plexus surrounds the testicular artery within the spermatic cord and ultimately coalesces to form the testicular vein. The left testicular vein typically drains into the left renal vein, while the right testicular vein drains directly into the inferior vena cava. Lymphatic Drainage: Lymphatic vessels from the testis follow the course of the testicular arteries and veins. Lymphatic drainage primarily occurs to the para-aortic lymph nodes, specifically the lumbar lymph nodes. From there, lymph is further transported to the cisterna chyli and eventually enters the thoracic duct, contributing to systemic lymphatic circulation. Innervation: The testis receives innervation from the autonomic nervous system, with sympathetic fibers originating from the lower thoracic and upper lumbar segments of the spinal cord. Parasympathetic innervation arises from the pelvic splanchnic nerves.
