Does the BMW XM Feel Like an M Car? /// POV Driving Impressions

Coming in at a whopping $167k for this spec, the BMW XM surely makes a visual statement inside and out, but after driving it, that price tag is just unacceptable. Is it fast? Yes! Is the build quality inside top notch with plentiful use of materials? Yes! But I left my experience with the XM feeling that X stands more for “experimental” than anything else, almost like an M attempt to replicate what Alpina does so well, luxury performance. Why an experiment though? Well it really feels like you are paying for: Styling & brand new (early version) Powertrain. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ @Alllcarnews Spec Sheet: Under the hood we have a new generation of the TT 4.4L V8 adapted to work with an electric motor powered by a 25.7kWh battery. Here it makes 653HP and 590 lb-ft of torque to all four wheels while able to travel 30miles in EV mode. It gets a new hybrid M-xDrive system with a rear locking differential. It weighs 6,062lbs (2,750kg). 0-60 is claimed at “4.1sec” with an optional 168MPH TopSpeed. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The XM will occupy your attention endless settings, drivetrain and luxury customization options, and flashy interior lights, but a stiff ride and seemingly unrefined rear wheel steering system make you still feel that weight & body roll in corners. Heck an X5 or X6 M Competition handle worlds better for nearly half the price. Also for $167k, it unfortunately lacks luxury features like seat ventilation, massaging, and no gas roof option at all. At the end of the day, the XM is fantastically built quality wise and makes a loud statement.
