The IMF, or International Monetary Fund, primarily monitors all the currencies of the world and provides international trading and loan support. Unlike other global organizations, IMF loans are often given to nations to stabilize their monetary system and overcome a balance of payment crisis. However, the IMF approves the loan only after certain conditions have been met. The organization is also considered to be the last refuge of credit to deal with the economic crisis of any country. Currently, 36 countries around the world are getting the privilege of receiving a total of $185 billion in loan assistance from the IMF. Pakistan and Sri Lanka, which are in an extreme economic crisis in Asia, have taken bail-out assistance from the IMF. Bangladesh has also recently sought 4.5 billion dollars in loan assistance from the organization as a precautionary measure to avoid a balance of payment crisis.
