June. A month without respite, some unfinished tasks, as befits a birthday month, misunderstandings, little problems and I burdened myself with mini repairs at the cabin (doing them myself). The matters of the hole (see Gegužės Popuri) are over - after the ESO work, the animal didn't show up anymore. I put a pine cone as a marker with two twigs like chopsticks and go check if it has moved, maybe a fox or a badger visited, but for now. A beautiful big moose appeared as a newcomer, protesting about filming without permission and roe deer are sorting out their relationships. Other news starts with the smallest and cutest ones, various little birdies. The Great Tits laid a second clutch of eggs, numerous starlings with youngsters arrived, bushes are full of all kinds of chirping birds, and there are meadows full of fluffy babies. A deer was carrying THREE fawns in a gigantic belly, captured on camera - if you observe closely, you can count them. It appeared for the first time with a little one (that's how the camera captured it) on June 14. The next day, a moose came with its last year's "baby". On June 19, a wolf appeared, injured, and during daylight, 145 meters away from the cabin. There was concern about the little ones, but in nature, you know, there was more concern from the deer's pregnancy period due to stray and uncontrolled dogs... The next morning, while going for a walk, I saw all three fawns in the meadow near the swamp and managed to take a photo, but not all of them in one bunch, they kept a few meters distance from each other for safety. And I saw the moose with a fresh fawn, it made me happy, what a good place and the mothers feel good here while bringing their babies. By the 24th, there were only two fawns left, but as it suits little torpedoes, they are full of energy, trained by their mother to leap over hills and slopes. From the morning of the 25th, the fawns are no longer visible... The deer mom follows its usual route every day, I'm hoping that it left the young ones down below, where a young spruce is surrounded by a swamp and a stream. Yesterday was a highly intense day for the camera. From early morning, those "stray" dogs were present, around noon, the neighbor's bitch - I suspect in heat because they keep calling her every day, echoing through the villages :D, in the afternoon, the moose brought her child to show, and stayed until almost midnight. So, next month we will try to figure out the situation with the fawns, hoping the cave series will get aired again, and we will observe how the little moose grows. Best wishes, Saulė.
