The UN Generl Assembly was a venue for promoting the PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games for President Moon. Many times in the keynote address of the United Nations General Assembly, he referred to PyeongChang, and met with Thomas Bach, the chairman of the IOC, to ask for active cooperation in the PyeongChang Olympic Games. However, the promotion for the Games was met with a sudden issue. On September 21, the French minister of sports said France would not take part in the PyeongChang Olympics unless the safety of the Korean peninsula was guaranteed. A few days later, the French side reaffirmed their participation in the PyeongChang Olympics, but the instability on the Korean peninsula cannot be denied.
