From saving together to leading change: A rural woman’s NRLM journey

What begins as a simple act of saving together can spark lasting change. Under India’s Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana–National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM), millions of rural women have joined Self-Help Groups (SHGs) to build confidence, solidarity and sustainable livelihoods. This animation film depicts the journey of one such woman, from newcomer to Community Resource Person (CRP), as she finds her voice, strengthens her community and helps others walk the same path. Produced by 3ie as part of the DAY-NRLM impact evaluation, the film brings research to life, illustrating how collective action, access to finance and market linkages are transforming women’s economic opportunities across rural India.
