In Guyana, known as the “land of many waters,” it’s hard to believe that safe, reliable water supply would be hard to come by. That was the reality for people living on the West Bank of the Berbice River and in Friendship / Sandhills; Wikki / Calcuni and Wiruni Villages, until funding from the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) improved their access to a reliable supply of potable water. In this video, watch how the Basic Needs Trust Fund at CDB helped rehabilitate water systems in some of the most vulnerable communities in Guyana, which are now powered by renewable energy. The Basic Needs Trust Fund contributes to poverty reduction in targeted communities by providing infrastructure and livelihood enhancement services for the most vulnerable in the Caribbean region.
