This is how I got rid of mealy bugs on my maranta plant. I originally bought the plant infested with them and didn't know it at the time. Mealy bugs are white fuzzy bugs that can be found on your houseplants. I will say that mealies are really hard to get rid of completely and they can lay a lot of eggs and crawl and spread to your other plants. Refer to my instagram hightlight Mealies for a closer look at my process! *Also, just a disclaimer. This is just what I found worked for me! I'm not saying this is the right way so make sure to do your own research! Steps I took: 1. I quarantine every new plant I bring home and I realized it had mealies and immediately put it in my bathtub which is my quarantine area lol. 2. I used the alcohol and cue tip method and got off as many mealies as I could find. This was very tedious and took a while! (I probably killed over 50 at this point). 3. I used bonide systemic granules into the soil and watered in. This will kill the mealies in the soil, but it doesn't have an immediate effect. 4. I checked on the plant about every other day and killed about 1-3 mealies when I checked using the alcohol and cue tip method. I was pretty persistent in the beginning 5. It was almost 3 weeks of being in my bathtub that I decided this poor plant needed to come out so to be sure I didn't miss anything, I decided to try out this horticultural oil spray from bonide so I could get into the nook and crannies which is what you see in this video. 6. I placed the plant back into my bathtub for about 4 more days and rechecked for mealies and I didn't find anymore. I decided to go ahead and place the plant beside some of my others and after a few more days, I rechecked again and still didn't find any. I have had some people tell me that they haven't been able to completely get rid of them which I can understand! It definitely takes a lot of persistence and staying on top of treating them. The products I used: 1. 70 % isopropyl alcohol (found at my local grocery store). It kills them on contact 2. Bonide systemic granules https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000BWZ9U8?... 3.
