Tools of the trade for working with venomous – part 1! In this video, we do a deep dive into the specialized tools that are used for working with venomous snakes. For this video specifically that means hooks, tongs, and containment (buckets). These tools are necessary for us to work with these animals in a manner that is both safe for them and safe for us by allowing us to move and manipulate them completely hands free. Since there are so many tools used at our facility, we split this video into a 2-part series to keep duration within a reasonable timeframe. We feel that we can really compare and contrast their quality as we have so many here on hand, and have used them daily in a captive context for many years. As you’ll see, we feel that the best are made by Get Hooked (Venom Life), Midwest, and Animal Equipment by Stoney. Each of their websites are listed below – you can’t go wrong with just about all of their products. I hope you enjoy watching and learn something from this video! Definitely keep an eye out for part 2 where we’ll cover a plethora of other important and handy items that bolster safe and responsible venomous husbandry.
