n Vitro Fertilization (IVF) describes a technique where a woman’s eggs and man’s sperm are combined in a special laboratory in order to create an embryo(s). Depending on the diagnosis and age of the woman, an embryo or embryos are transferred to the woman’s uterus through her cervix to enhance the chances of pregnancy. The IVF process can be explained in these 7 steps; 1.Ovum Pick Up 2.Good eggs selections 3. Good eggs are selected. Method 1: Eggs are incubated with thousands of sperms where fertilization occurs naturally in Petri dish Method 2: Good quality sperm is injected into the eggs (IUI) 6.Fertilize embryos is kept in an incubator to grow naturally. The embryo is kept for 3-5 days 7. Embryo transfer Pregnancy test is done after 12-14 days to confirm pregnancy- Extra embryos can be frozen to used in next cycle.
