If you knew there was evidence that spoken word poetry inspired connection, community and hope, would you find a way to embrace poetry too? If poetry could help your business breathe new life into its culture and inspire creativity, would you make it part of your leadership? In this insightful talk, Dr Kate Jenkinson, shares her rollercoaster relationship with poetry and how, despite becoming a scientist, she found her way back to becoming a Spoken Word Performer and Business Poet. Kate lives life without regret. In this talk, she shares how she faces challenges with positive words and invites you to find your own path back to poetry in honour of her Grandpa who inspired her love of poetry. Video production by Prism Studios, Warrington www.prism-studios.co.uk Research Scientist turned award-winning business leader and now Executive Coach – Kate Jenkinson knows a thing or two about personal and professional transitions! Having worked at the most senior levels of executive leadership in the private, public, and not-for-profit sectors, Kate has a values-driven coaching style that complements her evidence-based professional practice. Executive coach by day and a performance poet by night, Kate is one of a handful of LinkedIn Business Poets (coining the term herself in 2016). She crafts ‘pecha kucha’ style keynotes where ‘Poetry is Leadership’, as well as spontaneous spoken word finales for charity awards ceremonies and leadership conferences. During the pandemic, Kate re-evaluated her priorities and decided to focus on personal happiness. For her this meant putting family first, helping others find their flow and giving back to those who have nothing. She achieves this through conversations, coaching and poetry - and has never been happier. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
