We were told to prepare for the 'Drake Shake', the notoriously turbulent 48-hour crossing of the Drake Passage. All balcony furniture was strapped down and we were expecting 10 m swells. Luckily, we had relatively smooth sailing. Perhaps not quite the 'Drake Lake,' but we enjoyed the vibes and the company of petrels and albatrosses. What a surreal experience! The point earned its name for being the historic 'gateway' for early explorers.
