This week we continue to follow along with David as he becomes the next king of Israel. Instead of attacking Saul in a dark cave when he had the chance, David chose to cut a piece of cloth from his robe to prove to him that he was not his enemy. David did not want to dishonor God, so he treated Saul with honor and respect and had mercy on him. Just as David had mercy on Saul, God also shows us mercy even though we don't deserve it. We are all sinners and separated from God because of our sin, but there is hope in Jesus...the one who took our punishment to the cross and made a way for us to a have a relationship with God. Forgiveness of others can be hard when it's with someone who is not very kind and hard to love, but in those times, we must remember that Jesus forgave us, and we must use that same forgiveness that Jesus has given us to that person.
