An arrest warrant for Woo Byung-woo, a former senior secretary to President Park Geun-hye,... has been REJECTED by a local court. The Seoul Central District Court turned down the independent counsel's request to formally arrest Woo, claiming that the allegations of abuse of authority, dereliction of duty and perjury are debatable. Prosecutors sought the warrant on Sunday, after grilling Woo for nearly 19 hours the previous day. The former presidential secretary has been accused of overstepping his authority and exercising undue influence over personnel affairs in government agencies and... in an investigation into suspicions against him. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Hwang Kyo-ahn has yet to decide whether to extend the independent counsel's investigation period. The acting president says there's no need to reach a hasty decision... as the team's initial mandate doesn't come to an end for another week or so.
