Krishna Chandra Ashtakam is a divine Sanskrit hymn consisting of 8+1 verses, describing the radiance, leelas, beauty, valor, and prema-bhāva of Lord Krishna, especially in His youthful Vrindavan pastimes. Composed in rich poetic Sanskrit, it venerates Krishna as the son of Nanda Maharaj and beloved of Rādhā. Each verse is a rasa-filled glimpse into Krishna’s charm, dance, and divine energy that captivates both humans and gods. 🌼 Full English Translation of Selected Verses Verse 1 May that son of the Lord of the Gopīs, whose dark brilliance mocks rainclouds and sapphires, who wears lightning-like golden garments and sandalpaste glowing like the moon, bless me with the service of His lotus feet. Verse 2 May that Gopī’s Lord, whose cheeks sway as He dances, whose earrings shine, who breaks the pride of the moon and lotus, and who binds the hearts of the Gopīs with sweet mystery—grant me service at His feet. Verse 3 Ever-fresh in form, joyous in playful acts, surrounded by friends delighting in His jokes, and more radiant than even the son of Indra—may that Krishna bless me with His feet's service. Verse 4 Adorned with golden love, honored by His relatives, worshiped by all guardians of the worlds, and praised daily by wise Brahmins—may His lotus feet be my devotion. Verse 5 He who defeated Kāliya and slew wicked Kaṁsa and his minions, and whose play nourishes the clouds of devotion—may His heroic form always be worshiped by me. Verse 8 Thirsting for Rādhā’s touch, delighted by her coy gaze, and cooling her heart like sandal on her breast—may that Krishna, the very essence of love, grant me refuge. Verse 9 (Phala Shruti) Whoever recites this hymn to Krishna, Rādhā’s dearest, gains what even gods like Varuṇa long for—the sweet service of Krishna’s feet, as He dwells joyfully in the forest of Gokula with Rādhā. ✨ Spiritual & Emotional Benefits of Reciting Krishna Chandra Ashtakam Deepens bhakti and connection with Krishna Invokes divine love (prema) and inner joy Helps one visualize Krishna’s form, beauty, and leelās Calms the mind and purifies the heart Ideal for daily chanting, meditation, and Vrindavan lovers #KrishnaChandraAshtakam #KrishnaBhajan #SanskritDevotion #RadhaKrishna #DivineLove
